Dinner: Went to Buko Nero on Tanjong Pagar, a cozy husband and wife run Asian-influenced Italian restaurant. Had the set menu du jour, comprising 5 or 6 different items which I'm too tipsy to clearly recount in detail at the moment, but everything was excellent. This was my second time there, and I like this place a lot. The portions are a bit on the smallish side for me, but the serving of the courses has been excellently paced both times I've been there, and the attention to detail is superb. I like the atmosphere there, too... outfitted primarily with furniture and tableware I recognize from Ikea, it's chic without feeling too uppity or pretentious. Tastefully done on the cheap.
I've noticed Ikea products in use at quite a number of other eateries here and it seems perfectly sensible to me. Not to sound like a walking advertisement for the place, but they do offer some pretty decent stuff at very affordable prices and it's interesting for me to see it used to good effect by the young owners of these establishments. Even if I do feel slighly like I'm dining inside of an episode of MTV's "The Real World".
Not sure where I'm going with this, my thoughts are usually muddled enough without the alcoholic enhancements, so I'd best stop while I'm ahead.
