Lunch: A smattering of little things I bought at Yaoya-san yesterday.

Cold Japanese tofu with shaved bonito and a dash of shoyu. Kimuchi daikon, nappa something zuke, grilled unagi skewer, ohba leaf, nori. Natto and pre-cooked rice with green onion. Ocha with ume boshi.

I've known about the pre-cooked rice for a while, but never tried it until now. Verdict: it was definitely rice at some point, but it's got a bit too plastic of a flavor or my tastes. Still, in a pinch it would suffice.

Snack: Remaining 2 unagi skewers and a glass of milk.

Dinner: Went to King of King in Oakland. Had braised tofu with vegetables, steamed rice, tea. Good, but not so hungry, so lots of leftovers. Yay!

On a side note, I noticed a bunch of Chinese folks at a nearby table seemed to be glancing over at me repeatedly. Maybe it's just because I'm a big goofy looking gwei lo, but I'm wondering if it was something to do with the way I was eating, the way I held my chopsticks (Which I had to ask for! I don't like that new waitress...) or the way I cradled my rice bowl in my hand. Dunno. I'll have to get my friend Justin to watch me sometime and tell me if I'm doing it weird.

Midnight snack: Slice of apple pie at Nation's. Wanted it ala mode, but the girl said "the machine" was turned off, so I guess it's just as well... soft serve ice cream analog on a slice of pie just doesn't sound right.

Glass of milk before bed.
